The significant decrease in children's playtime, particularly the 50% reduction in outdoor play over a single generation, is a worrying trend. This decline, influenced by digital technology, shorter school breaks, and evolving parental lifestyles, can have a negative impact on children's physical health, mental well-being, development, and social abilities. At Green Bean Studios, we believe it's essential to support the recent open letter addressed to the UK Government, titled "Let's Get Our Children Playing Again." We wholeheartedly agree with its call for action. As a vibrant children’s entertainment brand, we are committed to fostering a love for our planet, encouraging environmental responsibility, and, crucially, supporting children in their development through play, learning, and engaging in fun adventures. We believe wholeheartedly in the power of play for children's well-being and development, and we commend the open letter for highlighting its importance. Our company's core values deeply align with the sentiments of this initiative. At Green Bean Studios, our work is built upon three fundamental pillars: EARTH, KIDS, and COMMUNITY. These principles guide everything we do, and the focus on children's well-being through play resonates strongly with our mission. That’s why we are adding our names to support the National Play Commission’s call for a National Play Strategy, led by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and delivered across Government. We would like to see: · Time to play protected in schools and in daily life. · Spaces to play designed into our streets, homes and public realm. · Play embedded across education, health, planning and culture. · Recognition that play is a right, not a reward and that all children deserve it. If we want a future full of creative, curious, compassionate citizens, we must let children do what they are born to do: play. Let’s make England a country where every child has the time, space and permission to play, every day. |
