The Green Bean Collection contains a range of collectable books, toys and games designed to help young children learn key skills and support their early education. We have incorporated elements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework into our collection, to promote the seven key areas of learning as set out in this framework. Our board books for babies and toddlers contain bold colours, interesting illustrations, and lift-the-flap features which help engage young children and encourage their natural curiosity. Green Bean’s Shapes has been designed to stimulate a baby’s vision by using black, white and red. Green Bean’s Numbers teaches number recognition through observational learning, and each number comes with isolated objects to reinforce this. In Green Bean’s Colours, bold colours on each page help to familiarise younger children with everyday colours. Founder Anita Frost said: “The first five years of a child's life are critical. I am incredibly passionate about enabling children from all backgrounds to access great books, toys, games and media content which supports the foundational level of a child's early years. Unfortunately, the estimated social cost of late intervention is over £17 billion each year. “My answer to this has been to focus on developing a children's brand built on the foundations of what children across the globe need to thrive. Children don't have the power to tackle these huge societal issues for themselves; it is the duty of those such as myself who understand what needs to change to take action and make a difference, one child at a time. This award supports us being able to get closer to achieving this.” Our books encourage good personal, social and emotional development by building confidence and self-worth in children. When reading with a caregiver, the stories help to promote good mental health and wellbeing for children by nurturing feelings of connection and closeness. Sharing our stories in this way supports a love of reading and learning from a young age, to set children in good stead for starting school and the classroom environment. In addition to our books, we have developed a range of educational toys and games to support and enhance children’s early learning. When played with in addition to reading our books, children are further encouraged to enjoy reading and explore their own creativity through imaginative play. Another key consideration for the brand will be several of the United Nations 17 sustainable goals. These include Goal 12 – Responsible consumption and Production; Goal 4 – Quality Education; Goal 9 – Industry Innovation & Infrastructure; Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities & Communities.
