Anita Frost was invited back as a guest on BBC Radio 5 Live’s breakfast show Wake Up To Money on 26th July. Now the fourth time she has been on the show, the multi award-winning author and entrepreneur spoke alongside selected special guests to discuss news and views on business and the world of personal finance, plus the very latest from the financial markets around the globe. Being a regular guest on this respected financial show is a testament to Anita’s knowledge and experience in the business world and the valuable insights she has to offer as a creative business leader. On the show, Anita shared her perspective on leading a sustainable children’s entertainment brand as a black female founder in the UK. CEO of Harrods, Michael Ward, was also on the show talking about the importance of investing in customer experience for business success and longevity. Michael has been the managing director and driving force of luxury Knightsbridge department store Harrods since 2005, bringing a wealth of retail and customer experience with him. Green Bean Studios shares his ethos, continuing to put customers and communities first in their marketplace engagement strategy throughout their retail line, the Green Bean Collection.
Another guest was Sarah Cardell, CEO of Competition and Markets Authority. In a statement issued to the press, she said: “Helping people in the face of rising cost of living pressures has been at the heart of the Competition and Markets Authority's work over the last 18 months. But when it comes to petrol and diesel prices, there is more to do. Everyone has seen for themselves how much fuel prices have gone up over the past few years. Most of that is down to higher oil prices. But since 2019 the margins retailers make on fuel have also been going up and are now significantly above historic levels. The total cost to UK drivers from these margin increases was over £1.6bn in 2023 alone. The best way of getting fuel margins down is by revitalising competition between retailers so that the consumer has the power to make choices. Last July we published an action plan to do just that. We want to arm drivers with an easier way of finding cheap fuel in their area by giving drivers access to live, station-by-station fuel prices on their phone maps or satnavs. This fuel finder scheme could save you up to £4.50 each time you fill up. We want to work with the new government to help make the scheme a reality. That can be delivered by changing the law, so all fuel retailers are required to share live prices, backed up with new powers for the CMA to hold these retailers to account on your behalf.” If you didn’t catch the show live you can listen to the playback here: |
